Yokoo Tadanori

Artist and Poster Designer | Tadanori Yokoo

As a general rule, I prefer the less is more approach to art and design. Japanese Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Artist, #tadanoriyokoo is a definite exception to this rule.

Apparently as a child, he was obsessed with foreign countries and cultures. I think his eventual travels abroad from the 60s onwards must have influenced his work. His style is a fusion of Japanese (I see visual references to Manga, Japanese propaganda posters, traditional playing cards and such), Western Pop Art and Psychedelic Art.

I dragged my mum and Aunt to the Yokoo Tadanori Museum in Kobe earlier this year. We loved it! It's jam packed with his legendary poster art, large trippy paintings and even had a room full of bean bags where you can listen to records that inspired him. (Artists like The Beatles and Santana, who he created designs and art for) It's definitely worth a visit if you are in the Kansai area and would like to see his amazing work πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ
