My Inspiration | Osamu Goods

Japanese art and design from my childhood is a major inspiration of mine. In this series, I will share the creators that have shaped my idea of great art and design.

Osamu Harada, better known as Osamu Goods, designed the collectable merchandise for Mister Donut 🍩 His work reminds me of the many fun filled trips made to the donut store with my Nana in the 80s and 90s. We'd "have to" eat a couple of donuts each per sitting to collect enough points for whatever merch was being given away at the time, usually cute tote bags or mug cups.

Unfortunately Harada san passed away a couple of years ago 😔 It's nice to see his work live on in various forms, such as this Comme Des Garcons collaboration t-shirt.

Drawing Time Lapse

This is a quirky black and white line drawing titled "If Kim Had My Phone Cover". It features the unlikely duo of selfie queen, Kim Kardashian and Kaonashi a.k.a No Face from the Studio Ghibli classic, Spirited Away.

I used Art Line ink pens on Noble Report plain paper by Japanese paper company, Life. Once the hand-drawn image was complete, I polished it up digitally in my signature icon portrait style ^_^
