Illustration and Design for Reclink Community Cup Campaign

Client: Reclink
Project: Campaign artwork
Reclink works in partnership with numerous agencies across Australia to deliver sport and recreation programs for people experiencing disadvantage. The Reclink Community Cup is a charity AFL football match that brings together the Rockdogs, made up of musicians, and the Megahertz, a team of radio personalities from Melbourne’s beloved community radio stations, Triple R and PBS FM.

Project brief:
"Let Love Rule" was the theme of the 2022 Community Cup, a year that stood out in many ways. After enduring extended lockdowns, the world was finally beginning to reopen. With no Community Cup held in 2020 or 2021 due to the pandemic, the 2022 event marked a meaningful and memorable return.

Design approach:

My goal was to infuse this quintessentially Aussie project with a clean-line Japanese illustrative style to give it a unique visual identity. The aesthetic draws some inspiration from Sanrio, blended with my love for my new home, Australia. I used a variation of Reclink’s bright colour palette, giving it a slightly retro twist.

As always, the small individual illustrations that form the main artwork are also supplied separately, allowing for flexible and efficient use across the campaign.

The dog making a mark was a hit and used again the following year.
